Moulicent 2008 ........
Ok finally got time to get round to putting up a few pics and stuff after Si B, Kev, Steve and I spent a great week in November at Jon Marshals Moulicent Lake.
I will drag the other bits from the Moulicent thread as well to keep them all together and the lads can post their own pics of the fish and lake then. Most of these pics are from Si and Kev to be honest anyway.
After a pretty uneventful trip across we arrived to a warm welcome from Jon who took us straight to the lake for a look round. My initial reaction was that the lake was narrower than I thought but was set in a beautiful wooded valley with nothing overlooking it but the wildlife.
| With 4 set swims and a shallower bay at the top end for stalking we left Jon draw for swims before setting off in the mini tractor and trailer to our swims. 1 | ||

After an uneventful first day Si B was off the mark in the early hours of Sunday with a new PB of 39lb 10oz!! So the pressure was off for him and everything was quiet till I had a mad 3 hours on Monday afternoon with 3 good twenties in the net, including 1 of only 3 or 4 known commons in the lake.

Kev then followed up with a couple of twenties, one of which was also a new PB of 29lb 12oz Mirror.
Fish were boshing out pretty much all over the lake during the nights and occasionally during the daytime. Steve was having a hard time of it, working his bay hard and spending time in the shallow bay were we saw/heard alot of fish crashing. Unfortunately all he managed to catch was crotch rot after refusing to remove his new Tracker salopettes for the whole week, 24/7

Sorry Steve
A quick word about the food. OH MY GOD. Jon nearly ruined 3 months work in a 6 days. Its varied, well cooked and there is mountains of it. You cant go wrong.
Anyway back to the fishing. Thursday saw me try something different as things had gone a little quiet. I used Kev bait boat, god help me, and put all 3 rods close to the far bank will a good scattering of particle as well as the CCMoores Meteor boilies we had been using to good effect all week. At 3ish in the afternoon it payed off with a terrific fight, a recurring theme, and a 33lb 14oz mirror on the mat

Si B finished a top week off with a 22lb mirror (ruining our average Wink )on the Friday morning after casting to a showing fish. All in all we finished with 9 fish in some changeable November weather. The fish fight hard, the place is a little gem and has all the facilities you need. I couldn't recommend it enough. As I wrote in the catch report book on leaving;
Top bloke
Top lake
Top scran
Will be back...........nough said!! Si Gay
