A total of 16 of us, consisting of 13 RN&RM and 3 from the Rother Valley FDG, enjoyed a fine and pleasant day despite an uncomfortable wind which persisted throughout the visit. The event started with a tipple provided by Robbie Pearce to celebrate his birthday (70+ a few) - see accompanying photo.
Despite this being a small water there was ample room for us and most managed to take fish. Though no large fish were taken (best 4lb 8oz by Ewen Greenlees) the quality was good and fish had plenty of fight. Surprisingly much of the action was 'top of the water'and fish rose readily to dry flies.
Facilities provided by Mark and Wendy Rogers, who have taken ownership of the fishery since October 2007, are excellent, with a comfortable chalet for food, shelter and fishing equipment, the bankside grass was mown to perfection and there are plenty of seats. We were also treated to tea/coffee supplied to order on the bank and a cup of soup and bread roll at lunch time - all included in the ticket price.
All in all a most enjoyable day - results above
