10 intrepid anglers manned 5 boats on our annual boating trip to Bewl. Conditions were good though a bit bright some of the time. The main difference from our 2007 visit was that tere was much less wind though it did come up in the late afternoon and the main bowl was therefore fishable. Fish were again difficult to find and mostly came from the area around the boils and valve tower falling to lures presented very deep (Di7). Dave Morton and Ted Peck managed 3 fish each with Chris Anderson and Steve Gibson persuading one each into the boat. The fishery management had warned us that results had been poor for a couple of weeks before and so any fish was a bonus and we finished 8 trout up on last years result of one perch and no trout at all. Full details are in the scoresheet above. It is intended to keep a boat event in next years programme, a suitable alternative venue will be looked at and any recommendations are welcomed (except Chew). Arlington has warm water and pest problems and, on the last visit, the boats were not very good - has anyone any updates? |
