AMFC Round 1
Hello everybody,
What a fantastic start to our AMFC season.
Myself,Dave Minall, Dave Morton and Grant Maxwell Thompson pitched up at Bewl water on Friday morning faced with a nice overcast water, good results reported from the previous weeks fishing and loads of enthusiasm.
After a bit of nose bag we all headed out, 24 teams of 4 guys representing divs 1, 2 and 3.
Most boats headed for hook strait, down past the cages and the point to the right of the moorings.
BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!
I was partnered with Hugh Frew and he'd taken 10 fish the day before. So of course he took me to the same spot NO JOY, in fact by 1400 we'd only had a fish each.
But as luck would have it somebody said to Hugh that there were fish over at Chingley wood, so off we trotted and with ten mins my partner took a fish. I DIDN'T.
But in the nick of time at 1500 Dave Minall and his boat partner appeared told us where to fish and what to do, myself and Dave Morton.Unfortunatley he didn't find Grant.
So i did as i was told, stuck on an intermediate and two cat boobies 10 foot apart and took 6 fish in the last couple of hours. What a joy, thanks for that Dave.
Missed about 6 and never bagged up, but went in feeling a much happier chappy.
As it turned out Dave Minall had finished bt 1450, so got 3 hours time bonus, Dave Morton took seven, again in part to Dave Minalls advice.
Sadly Grant didn,t get the info in time and consequently blocked ( on of ten other blanks that day).
But the great news is we came top in our division by some 10 pounds and third overall( i will get confirmation from John Caldwell about our overall position.
So with Dave Minalls' good fishing and quality advice we achieved a cracking result and are in the best possible position for the next round on the 4th May at Hanningfield.
Well done fellas, my thanks to you all,
Especially big nose.
