The above event was contested on Monday 14 May at Durleigh Reservoir, pidgwater, Somerset. With a strong wind all day, the normal method of waggler or whip was a non-starter and the assembled anglers all opted for feeder tactics. Although with the water action caused by the high winds, identifying the shy skimmer bites was difficult for some, although some anglers experienced "wrap rounds". Although the winds were high we were blessed with a dry day, so that was some blessing.

n the team event, Yeovilton's decision to compete at Durleigh was obviously the right one as a convincing 10 points to 21 was recorded over Culdrose. The trophy will feel out of place at Yeovilton as this is the first occasion it has been East of Cornwall for three years. Culdrose are sure to choose a suitable venue next year, in an attempt to return the trophy to its normal Kernow location.

A new name is now on the individual trophy - CPO Tim poughton of 702 Sqn at Yeovilton. Tim weighed in an impressive 67lb 9oz that included a 13lb 11oz common carp. 2nd was CPO Keith "Mash" Massheder with 59lb 01oz. Third was WO1 Bob Yeomans with 52lb 02oz. The lowest weight recorded was 12lb 12oz. The total weight for the fifteen competing anglers was 452lb, an average weight of just over 30lbs. A venue for future matches, you bet!!
