Cape Town Fishing

I am currently on deployment and have just spent an amazing couple of weeks in South Africa. Through the tourist information I was put in contact with a guy who could take me fly fishing (James Warne). Anyway, it was probably the best days fishing I have ever had, and not for the faint hearted, some Mountaineering experience would probably have been preferable.

James took me by car about an hour's journey outside of Cape Town to a beautiful river running through the Hugenot Mountains. He provided peakfast, lunch, drinks and to finish off the day some ice cold beers.

The guide was worth his weight in gold, and I was not surprised that his client base included the likes of Matt Hayes and (curve ball) Vinnie Jones; I didn't know he fly fished and many more famous people.

I have included a link to them, their web address is www.upstreamafrica.co.za This would be excellent for anyone else who is going on deployment and will be calling in South Africa. Even if you are planning to go on Holiday these guys will look after you and recommend accommodation to suit your needs and your budget.

After the days fishing he recommended that I try a few different restaurants and other places to go, all I had to do was mention his name and they seemed to bend over backwards for me, I have never known anything like it.

Attached is a photo of me hooking into my first of many wild Rainbows, Note the cap, forever flying the flag
